Having dealt with the Margr, the Party returned to Mayor Donaven in Irys to receive their reward. In addition to a large sum of shins and an Amulet of Safety, Donaven asked them to look into what he perceived as some sort of plotting from the Pupils, a that worshiped the Eye as an all powerful god. Donaven stated that there were discrepancies between the chartings of the Eye kept by the Pupils and their doctrine derived from them. This had been discovered by a woman named Sarash living in the nearby town of Burnst.
The Party began their investigation at the center of the Pupils in Irys, a building known as the Dome. Learning little talking to the Pupils, Jared used an Infiltrator cypher to get layout of the building. He learned that at the top was a powerful telescope maintained by two automatons.
They decided to travel to Burnst next, where they met Sarash and were show the machine she used to emulate the Pupils’s derivation process. Crankshaft drafted plans to reverse the process while rest of the Party took Sarash and the other Aeon Priests out to the town’s tavern.
While the rest of the Party, drunk from revelry, decided to sleep outdoors, Crankshaft headed to the inn where a Philethis caused the innkeeper to give him the wrong keys. Inside his room he found a mess of papers left by the previous tenant bearing a map to The Pod and a wax seal bearing a black bird of prey. In the morning Edge and Jared came looking for Crankshaft at the inn, but were sent to a different room, finding the belongings of McFarley, including a journal and backpack. Using this clues and his time abilities, Edge discovered that McFarley had also been sent back in time and had been following a man whom he believed to be a member of The Jagged Dream.
Around this time Crankshaft was visited by another Philethis which woke him and sent him running out of his room and straight into Jared and Edge. The group decided to head to the Pod. Thoroughly exploring the Pod, the party found the remains of prior world vehicles and confirmed that the man McFarley had been following had come through the structure only a few days before. One of the rooms provided access to a glass pod which was visible from outside the facility. The Party determined that it was a teleporter which the man had used, so they followed him through.
