While the Party crossed the Plains of Kataru, a Signal Bird arrived from Lemsel notifying them that he had mounted a new expedition to the Orgorek and asking if they were interested. As it was on their way, the Party decided to stop and see what he was doing. The night before arriving at the Orgorek, Jared was warnred by a Philethis about mechanical insects. After arriving to find him setting up gravity suits under the Orgorek, they questioned him about his new benefactor, Jared was especially suspicious. Lemsel told them that he was trying to find evidence of the same insectoid skull which they had found on the Slab, hoping to prove that the two locations were somehow associated. Finally, he admited that he had heard some stories from local tribal bands about tendrils attacking from within the Orgorek, which the party noted reminded them of the facility they explored on top of the Great Slab. Lemsel’s plan was to use the gravity suits to reach the floating Orgorek, which the Party complied with. For some reason Jared decided to turn chaotic stupid and sabotage Eth’s gravity suit, in retaliation Eth tried to strike Jared with fire but ended up just scorching the extra suits.
Impatient, Crankshaft activated the suits and the Party plus Lemsel fell up to the surface of the Orgorek while Jared used an esotery to float up. Crankshaft noticed that there seemed to be some sort of automaton presence inside the Orgorek. They investigated a hatch that seemed to afford access inside the Orgorek, but Lemsel suggested inspecting the giant tree ontop before seeking entrance. After some dangerous use of the gravity suits to reach the top hemishphere of the Orgorek, the Party found a hollow under the tree which held a cube artifact which, together with the giant tree, fashioned the Orgorek into a prison for something inside. Crankshaft recognized that the artifact was a Probability Engine and, with Edge’s help, removed it, unwittingly freeing the creature inside the Orgorek. In addition, Crankshaft’s automaton companion, Jo, began repeating the name Ictegyal, interspersed with referneces to someone named Eurynomec and adversaries in a place called Phaeton (Jared recognized this as being somewhere in the Night/space).
Returning to one of the hatches on the bottom hemishpere of the Orgorek, Crankshaft opened one of the hatches and was immediately attacked by a whiplike tendrils which grabbed him and pulled something against the inside of the Orgorek, causing cracks to appear. Crankshaft managed to free himself, but three more tendrils reached out and grabbed Jared, Edge and Eth. Eth flung a fireball inside and saw the creature in its entirety, an insectoid automaton whith bunches of tendrils in place of limbs. Edge managed to free the group, but at the same time the creature finished destroying the Orgorek. The entire structure shattered sending everyone flying, while the pieces of the Orgorek floated into the sky and the giant tree fell to the ground. The insectoid creature floated up into space and the Party heard one last announcement through Jo, “I’m free to deal the vermin in Phaeton what they deserve”.
Seemingly undetered by the monster they had unleashed, Lemsel paid the Party with shins and the Gravity Suit Engine, and then tried to get Jared to give him the skull from the Slab, citing his debt to his benefactor, Iyene-Who-Knows. When Jared refused Lemsel begged, fearful of what Iyene would do to him. Jared told Lemsel that he could travel whith them, but he wouldn’t give him the skull. So, the Party, along with Lemsel left the remains of the Orgorek and continued heading towards the Black Riage and the Steadfast.
The next night, Edge and Crankshaft were awakend by a Philethis and saw Lemsel sneaking around camp. The Party confronted Lemsel about this in the morning and after some prying, Lemsel admitted that he was trying to steal the skull from Jared. The group told him he was on thin ice, but let him continue with them.
Nearing Tremble Pass, Yolpen sighted a forest of purple trees and ran towards it. Upon arriving he pulled a tree out of the ground and happily began eating it. Jared spotted some appealing looking fruit and he ate some, prompting Lemsel to do the same. Over the next few days Jared and Lemsel became sick and started growing long purple growth on their stomaches. As they were nearby Cylion Basin, the Party stopped to see Darvin who knew exactly what they had eaten and how to cure it, but warned that it was a very painful process. She then proceded to use a hacksaw to cut the tendrils off of Jared and Lemsel.
While the Jared and Lemsel were on bedrest, Crankshaft, Eth and Edge went to see a blacksmith about fixing up and fitting the armor he found in Selascor Caslte for Eth to wear. However, in the middle of town Crankshaft and Eth were overtaken by the Weaponized Meme that had placed itself in their minds at the Symbol Tower. They were able to quickly overpower it, but not without passing the deadly sylables on to a number of bystanders, five of which died. Crankshaft avoided blame by helping the survivors into the healing pools, saving their lives.

The Party left Cylion Basin and finally arrived at the Black Riage. They spent the night with a group along the Wandering Walk, and learned about the scum ridden town of Legrash and the strange roaring sounds that people had been hearing from the north. A young couple decided to travel with them. The next day they heard the roar, and Crankshaft recognized it to be a car’s engine. The couple told them that the quickest way to reach Mt. Zanlis, the source of the roar, was through a pass that started in Legrash. They headed to Legrash, arriving in the evening and were forced to spend the night. The couple stayed with the Party for safety, and the whole group camped in the cart on the outskirts of town. During the night they were attacked by bandits, but Crankshaft and Edge easily scared them off, attachting one of the bandits to the side of a building with rope as a warning.
The next day the young couple headed off along the Wandering Walk and the Party headed north. They pinpointed the source of the roaring sound to be the peak of Mt. Zanlis and found a well maintained cat-track that led all the way up. Two strange occurances happened along the way. First, an intense storm followed the up the mountain, but always stopped before overcoming them. Second, when Yolpen and the cart fell of the edge of the cat-track, the mountain seemed to reach out and save them, placing them back on the path.
Arriving at the peak, the Party found a powerful machine intelligence which held extreme power over its environment. It told them that they had been summoned for a task for which it needed their help, and that they would be rewarded with the car from Crankshaft’s visions if they helped. The machine intelligence needed them to remove an ultra-dimensional being from its realm that, due to its strange origin, the machine was unable to effect. The Party agreed and started heading back down the mountain to the spot which the intelligence had indicated.
